When is the estimated point of time for the zoom/autofocus during video to be ready? Sorry, I know I'm too impatient.. I'm just curious how often I should check back here  :xmas

Yes, I'm just wondering whether it will be days, weeks, months or years. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, just interested to know.

There is, in general, no estimate for when anything happens in CHDK.

should be :-

Since this is my first post in the forum, I first would like to thank very much all people having contributed to CHDK and in particurlar OldGit, rayalp and the others for SX200 porting.

Everything is working fine on my SX200 camera, but the zooming feature while filming. I've read carefully all available info in this thread and in some others without luck. I can't figure out how to action the zoom in movie mode. Zoom in/out slow or fast just doesn't work.

I would be very glad if someone could tell me if there is some special procedure to get it working (beside the "Activate optical zoom" video option and the fast zoom out action which both don't work), if zooming would eventually work only by script or if it's not yet implemented.

Thank you very much in advance for helping me in this issue and thank you again for your good work  ;)

If you have that option activated under the CHDK menu you just need to zoom in all the way to 12x for example before you start recording and during the recording you will be able to zoom in and out using the optical zoom. When you are done recording you can edit the video using the camera built-in function to crop the beginning of the video where you had the lens zoomed all the way up and then retracted the lens. The lens make some noise and if you zoom fast by pushing harder the zoom lever it will make more noise, try zooming by pushing the lever gently.

phKU,

are you sure you have switched digital zoom (in the Canon menu) to "Standard"? The optical zoom does not work if digital zoom is set to "Off" (but it works fine as an optical zoom on my SX200IS when digital zoom is activated).

This is THE point. If there's some info about that, I surely totally missed it  :o
And since disabling the digital zoom is what I use to do first on any cam...

Many thanks for the help, also to mikeg for his pm revealing the same solution.
