Taken this evening from inside my living room, I used SDM and Fudgey's motion detection script with default settings.

Wow those are some great shots!
Really great considering they came from your living room.
Fudgey's script is wonderful, it  has worked great for me as well.

Went with the electric blue of Tungsten WB, I see. I still can't decide if I like the pinker/purplier of Daylight / Cloudy WB more. (OK it's a new word, purplier, go with it) I used to try to approximate actual WB, since in the city there's so much light pollution, mostly high pressure sodiums and metal halides, but even to this day, mercury vapor lamps, so you have plenty of color temperature sources... but the images come out less dramatic, and come on, it's lightning. :b

As it stands I tend to alternate. I've considered changing MDFB to rotate WB setting every shot... hey why not, right?

The camera was actually in P-mode on Auto WB. Some earlier pictures that I took of lightning had a more purple tone but I personally like these better.

Not a bad idea if your storms have enough lightnings to catch tons of photos :)

I don't often shoot RAW, but for lightning catching I do use DNG whenever I remember. You get full control over the original colors, which really are hard to predict when the scene is illuminated by a lightning bolt...

I was going to ask what Aperture and shutter speeds  you used  but I see  you had set it for  P-mode.
 I didn't think the camera would be able to react quickly enough to set the exposure?

That is really great.

The camera sets the exposure on half press of the shutter and than keeps those settings at full press which starts the script.
In this case, the exposure was 1 second at f/2.6
