No need to add a command just for this functionality.
I already have a workaround by requiring the user to specify a "parameter" for identifying left/right camera(s).
If you are considering enhancements, and if it is feasible,
I would suggest addition of a single command that can inquery and return firmware parameters. For example:
get_sys_param a b
where "a" is an integer representing the parameter of interest
and "b" is an integer value assigned to the param
