I mean... I can get it up to 15 seconds using the night setting for exposure in the native firmware, but I can't get it any higher than that, which makes me think maybe I misunderstand how to run a script. Any tips? Thanks!
The Canon OSD don't know anything about the CHDK overrides, it only shows values from the internal Canon list,so on exposure times beyond the Canon limit of 15s the Canon OSD will always show "15s"...

Any tips? Thanks!Your settings are ok (23s x factor 1), you should see the CHDK override value on the LCD: Tv:23.0000Don't forget: when you have "Clear override values@start" enabled [.], the overrides will be disabled automatically when you power off the camera...And also remember - the Canon OSD don't show the CHDK override, although you have 23s CHDK-overwite, the Canon-OSD still shows 15s...QuoteThe Canon OSD don't know anything about the CHDK overrides, it only shows values from the internal Canon list,so on exposure times beyond the Canon limit of 15s the Canon OSD will always show "15s"...A shot with the settings from above takes ~46 seconds: 23s exposure + 23s dark-frame...you should also see the difference in the image...
Thanks again for the tips! Okay, I can see the Tv:23.0000. Just to make sure I can tell whether the shutter's open for 15 secs (the maximum for night setting on the native firmware) or longer, I tried a 45 secs exposure. I see the Tv:45.0000, but it's still staying open for only 15 secs. I have to go to manual/night setting on the native firmware to get the 15 secs, otherwise it stays open for just a fraction of a second. There must be something basic I'm missing... any tips?
The SD1100 is a bit tricky for aerial photography, as it cannot be set into a "shutter priority" or "aperture priority" mode to ensure very short shutter times, and thus tends to give blurry photos in such a shaky environmentI developed some code to force the camera to shoot with very short shutter times for my balloon project, and bzfrank adapted it into a simple intervalometer here:http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=3509.0you can find the script here:http://www.wizards.de/~frank/FTVIntrv.lua(save it as a .lua file in your card)To use this script, you will have to force to camera to keep the ND filter out of the way. To do this, in the main CHDK menu go under "Extra photo operations" and leave all the settings to their defaults, apart:- ND filter state: Out (do not confuse it with "Off"!!)- Clear override values on sta: Unchecked (do not confuse the menu item with the "Clear on start" that you find under "Zoom Override". This is one of the last items in the menuIMPORTANT NOTE: with this setting, if you use your camera normally you will have over-exposed photos. To use the camera normally you will have to set the ND filter back to "Off"
@fbonomi Thanks! What folder do I put that file into? CHDK/scripts? I tried that, and saw the menu options for the intervalometer, but then my screen goes black when I try to start it, and it takes just one photo and goes black again. I'm confused... I feel like there must be something obvious I'm missing about how to run CHDK scripts, or a setting that needs to be unset...
