Hi

Is any body out there using a canon sx200is?

1. Can it be controlled, focus and taking picture, via a remote switch? if so can one lead control two cameras?

2. Is anybody working on porting the little gem?

3. Has any body taken 3D photos using a twin set up without using CHDK

A complete CHDK port will have all the normal CHDK features. SDM is a fork of CHDK specifically made for stereo shooting, and usually picks up ports after they are done in CHDK.

Well, yes .. but do you mean highly synchronised images of fast moving subjects ?

If not, you can use a single camera for close-ups and just move between exposures.
You can press the buttons of two cameras at the same time or you can wire the switches together.

What firmware version do you have ?

I could make a build to test if synchronised shooting works OK.

Hi David

I hope to take delivery of my two Sx200is mid this week.

Yes i am trying to take 3D photos of model helicopter flying close to the ground (between 0.2 and 1.8m from ground level, some people can even fly lower when inverted so the blade hit the grass) so that i have foreground and background in the shot, it give the photo a depth, of a model which is about 1.5m in length, the rotor blade form a disk of 1.3m and thye model is around 400mm high. The rotor spin at 2000prm, yes 2000 so sync will be important.

I have tried to photograph these models with twin DSLR but they are to heavy and move very slightly due to there size and weight then panning through the sky, upon my test platform.

I know that i am starting at the deepend here with my subjects.

I have also order a Ricoh CA1 remote switch.

I will post again when i have the beta firmware loaded and have completed some test shoots, Can't wait.
I feel like a little boy on christmas morning :-)
