Hi all, I need some assistance about purchasing a suitable model.

I want to buy a cheap one for a security/ hidden camera, but all of the models on the list are 'too old' according to the shops here.

I found what looks similar to my old A570 [now died a sorry death] but it is called A1100

there are other models about but not one on the list apart from the G7 and 9, both of which are too pricey.

So, does anyone know that A1100 works with CHDK

It is not supported yet.

An alternative would be a used/refurbished camera. The a470 and a590 are both fairly recent and cheap.

There are also unfinished ports for the A1000 http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,2654.0.html and A2000 http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,4141.0.html

The A2000 should be fully supported soon.

Thanks for the additional information.

Unfortunately it will be very difficult to buy used equipment here, but I will try searching again.

How about a "Powershot A480"

I can get one of these for about 1000RMB/ (about USD 150.00)

Not supported. There is a page on the wiki for every camera that is support, and many that aren't. That page will tell you if any work has been done. For example, see http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A480

If wikia is blocked, try a proxy like http://proxify.com/

More walking required to find one that IS on the list. Damn wish I had time and the brain to pull apart this software and help write one!

It looks like the OP is in mainland China. Taobao.com might be a better option, I remember seeing even A650is models on there, around 1500rmb, if I remember correctly.
