    I have tried the Blinker using your Bin, but the program doesnt start. I have also recompiled it changing the LED address, same thing. LCD displayed "protected card". I used Cardtricks to make a bootable card and copied diskboot.bin on it.
    What's wrong with me ?

    Thank you for your help.
    Try to create ps.fi2 file from diskboot.bin with pack.bat. Don't forget to correct the my.map (HDR 0x000031E4)

    This case you can start the ps.fi2 if you power on the camera with play button and select firm update from menu.

    I also used ps.fi2 to dump the firmware.

    If it is like the SD980, WriteSDCard won't work properly even with the OS started. Probably something changed with the parameters, but I didn't have much time to investigate.

    RaduP, what photodiode did you end up using for your receiver?  Did you build the simple receiver with just a resistor and the diode or did you build the more complicated one with the analog comparator?  I'm trying to build the complicated one right now and I'm having a hard time finding a decent photodiode to use, but the rest of my circuit is complete.  I have a little more testing to do with my current photodiode before I drop it for something else, since it seems to be very sensitive (ambient light triggers breakdown).

    awww, I was so looking forward to trying out chdk on my new sx20, but it turns out I also have the GM1.02B firmware.

    I barely understood anything reading through that thread for dumping the firmware.  Seems kind of complicated. I actually do have some C background from a class I took in college a couple of years ago, but I can't really claim to remember much of it.
    You need no knowledge of C (I can send you running binariy ps.fi2, what starts the dumping process), but a bit more of photodiode. :)

    Eh, I've been reading through the wiki guides and it's a bit daunting.  I might actually go ahead and try it for the greater good, but I'll probably need someone to hold my hand through it if anyone is willing.

    I could probably build the receiver, but I need some clarification about a few things in this wiki page.

    "Requirements
    You will need the following;

            * The LED Cycling code [1]
            * The generic blinker sources (blinker for Soundcard, blink_g7 for Serial Port) [2] "

    Are these two things already available?"

    "If your camera lacks the "Firm Update" menu you will also need;

            * HDHacker software (for Windows) [3] or on a *nix System use dd
            * A Hex Editor [4]
            * The pre_blinker files [5]"
    Are the pre_blinker files already available as well?

    "Find LED Addresses

        NOTE: This is only required when adding a new camera to CHDK, the addresses for cameras already in CHDK are documented.

       1. Duplicate the blinker/fw directory from the blinker sources.
       2. Replace the contents of main.c with the LED Cycling Code.
       3. Build LED Cycling Code.
       4. Time how long it takes for the LED's to start lighting.
       5. Estimate a new interval based on how long it took for all the LED's to light.
       6. Modify the range in the Cycling code.
       7. Go back to 3 and repeat until you have an address for each LED. "
    Do we have the LED address for this camera already?

    I'm half assuming that nezt already did most of the hard work since it's the same camera, but with just different firmware. I think I might be able to handle the rest. Maybe.

    or If I'm reading wrong guide, point me towards the right direction.
