Hello,

Is there a way to have 1 st. menu position Color Temperature  instead of ISO?
I'm changing  CT often and will be very nice to have CT on 1.st position even if I shutdown/start camera.

I'm using Canon 350D, not sure about the CHDK version I'm using but I'll try to attach the autoexec.bin, maybe someone is able and kind enough to identify it.

best regards,
Dorin

I would also like to know what I am doing wrong here, I see people posting in this thread saying they were able to get it to work, but other than the FAQ saying to just press the set button, there seems to be little information as to why there might be a hiccup. Every other feature I have tried to use has worked wonderfully. Is there anyone that can shed some light on this subject?

EDIT: I feel kinda dumb but I found the Answer, you have to go into the camera regular menu to the custom function screen and change the set button to 1,2, or 3. If it's 0 or 4 you will have a problem.

Hi there,

I first readed whole topic and all in CHDK wiki-page for EOS 350D, and several other sources.

What I do wrong here?

I have EOS 350D European model
Firmware is 1.0.3
I have freshly formatted 512MB card with FAT16 Filesystem
There's bootflg2.fir root of card
I want first to make Camera flash bootable.

When try firmware update I get that "CF Card containing firmware..." message.
Orange led flash once, then blue led flash once for indication that FW is 1.0.3

Then nothing. I waited second blue flash for about 30 minutes now. Scanled.fir doesn't work either. The camera was bought in 2008.

yes there is. I uploaded several files last year or so that allow you to change the menu positions to your liking via editing SETTINGS.TXT

btw everybody, I have started to spend time shooting with my 350D again (though planning to buy a new body soon) and have some minor improvements for the custom firmware in mind.
maybe if I'm motivated I'll code them

EDIT: actually the filename is "user_settings.txt"

I just resurrected my 350d and started shooting with it again. I forgot how much I loved this camera and how many awesome shots I made with it. I am interested in altering the firmware now that I have other cameras.

My son and daughter are interested in shooting with an SLR and I am going to start using this camera more.

I am also using magic lantern on one of my other bodies. Sorry I am late to the party.

Hello everyone (sorry for the english but i'm italian), I'm new to the forum,
I saw that you can add some features (mainly I need the function Spot) by loading the CF the "firmware" CHDK, but I have a problem in the installation then do these steps:

FW version 1.0.3

-I format the CF directly from the 350d
-I put the CF in the MAC and it takes me over the files scanled.fir
I put the CF-350d
-I go out and do it for Firmware Version FW update
--- You should turn on a blue LED ---

but does not turn on anything! the machine gets stuck with the message: CF card containing firmware is required to update

How so? someone to help me?

Thanks in advance

ps. the CF that I have for the moment is a 256MB 6mb / s may depend on it?

yes, i push "OK"
on the screen appear : "CF card containing firmware is required to update" but there isn't a blu light led and the camera gets stuck

----------------

Si, io premo "OK"
sullo schermo appare la scritta "CF card containing firmware is required to update" ma nessun led blu lampeggia e la reflex si blocca
