what files and directories are there on your CF card?
scanled.fir should be at the root directory and it should be the only *.fir file

the 256MB card should be fine for doing the mod, even though it's a bit small for taking pictures  ;)

Did you try to make the card bootable and run the autoexec.bin?

Because the only things left I can think of are:
1. the firmware change did work the first time you tried, but you didn't notice
2. it doesn't work and I don't know why

I guess there must be at least severaly dozen 350Ds out there that accepted the mod and instinctively I would expect all 350Ds to behave the same, but that assumption could be wrong.

I have been thinking about adding custom function "04" to the hack menu in order to make it more easily accessible for people that use it regularly.
I usually shoot with setting "1", but for continuous drive shooting (e.g. sports) setting "3" is preferable and if you give the camera to another person for a few shots setting "0" is usually needed (or an explanation).

I have actually been thinking to add ALL the custom functions that are available through the regular menu to the hack menu too, so people can customize if they want to.

I have also been thinking about changing the hack menu for more usefulness. I think I have some good ideas here, but don't know if I can do it.

Feedback please  :)

Is anybody even using the 350D still? I am, and I have taken some good shots recently, though planning to upgrade. Of course I would keep the old 350D but probably not use it much.

Hi crazyklaus,
please continue your work on the 350D hack. I love this old camera with the new features.

On the last chaos computer congress (30c3) was a talk from the guys who build magig lantern. There was a question from the audience, if the 350D was suported. They denied - and they said there will be nothing in the future. One man from the audience told them there were an hack from CHDK available.

I think you can find the video on youtube.

So maybe there will some people come across this thread.

I followed all the installation instructions very carefully, but I'm still having problems. My camera seems go have "bricked", nothing shows up or turns on, BUT, it does flash orange from the CF light, and the Blue light flashes....but nothing on the screen now. The only variables I can think of is I used a 4gb CF card, and I remember when I was flashing the card it said something about my card being too big, but made an exception (formatted it differently I think) and it ran it successfully anyways. It a bummer, its been a brick for 6 months now and I'd really like to start shooting again. Any one have any advice? Should I try another CF card? Can I partition it to read like a smaller card? I can't turn the camera on to "format from camera", but I have a small USB card reader. Also, these can get perma-brickdd right? I'm curious if you could modify a battery to make an unbricker, similar to a "Pandora battery"

HeyHey hello the CHDK comunity !

Little up with new features for 350D :

 * Added "POSITION_BW" in Custom menu to switch between "Parameter 3" and "B/W"
 * Added "POSITION_NOISE" in Custom menu to enable/disable AutoNoiseReduction on Long Exposure
 * Added "POSITION_BW" and "POSITION_NOISE" to preset config file, so you can save presets directly with B/W Parameter activated, same for Noise Correction.

Shortcuts changes :
----------------------
AF menu:
zoom-out: Set Parameter B/W (0,0,N,N)
zoom-in: Set Parameter 3
direct-print: LCD brightness switch level 1,3,5 (press multiple times)

As usual the INFO button rotates the cutom menu items, but now even when you're on "Presets" item (so you can rotate through all items using only one button)
To save your presets you have to enter edit mode (like you edit Preset's Name), it is more secure no more erratic save.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Put all files in root of the memory card and enjoy new Custom Firmware features

Needs testing,
feedback,
corrections
and help... trying to include all settings available in the preset config file at the moment and then map a shortcut to rotate directly through presets.

I forgot to mention last change :

- Added POSITION_SATURATION POSITION_SHARPNESS    POSITION_CONTRAST
to the custom menu.
- You can have illimited custom settings for Contrast/Saturation/Sharpness...
for each Preset you save that is using "Parameter3".
