hi,

if you would have taken the trouble to read 1 or 2 pages previous to your post in the porting thread,
you would have seen that you need to put these files in the ROOT of your card, NOT in the DCIM
folder ...
Sorry, but installing beta versions of a software hack usually requires at least some reading  :D

Also (as in most forums) double posting is frowned upon ...

hope that helps,

wim

a) start in playback mode:
--> when the camera is powered OFF, press the blue PLAY button on the right upper side, the blue triangel [>] to power on the camera

b) press MENU
c) in the Canon menu, scroll to the "FIRMWARE UPDATE" menu item
d) select "FIRMWARE UPDATE", confirm with OK

--> Now CHDK should start, you should see the blue PRINT LED blink for a moment, the CHDK boot splash (log)...

To enter the CHDK menu, press the PRINT / SHORTCUT key (left button on the upper side with the blue printer symbol), you'll see  <Alt> on the screen, then press MENU.
After you've set up the things you want, leave the <Alt> mode again, press the PRINT button again for this.

You should download & read the CHDK user guide: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/chdk/images/3/33/CHDK_UserGuide_April_2009_A4.pdf

apertue setting :/
The camera does not physically have an adjustable aperture.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Yes, that's what CHDK can do for you...
The IXUS / SDxxx cameras only have a ND filter, a kind of fake aperture;
you can setup the ND filter from the "Extra Photo Operations" menu with the item "ND filter state [Off/On/Auto]".

To do a 64s exposure, do the following:
- from the Canon menu, set up the camera to the longest exposure, normally 15 seconds
- set up the following from the "Extra Photo Operations" menu:
 Override shutter speed  [    64]
   Value factor          [     1]
 Shutterspeed enum type  [Factor]

Note: the Canon OSD don't show the 64s override, it will always show 15s - but your exposure will be 64s
(plus another 64s with "busy" on the display when the dark frame subtraction (for noise reduction) is enabled !
