OK, no one else has seen this,
my only idea is dual partition.
When you first use CHDK the config file is created, if you change the settings, and close the CHDK menu correctly, the settings should be saved in the config file. (CCHDK.cfg)
If you are using dual partition support, make sure that the correct "copy" is being updated (fat32 - large partition or fat16 - small partition).
the optical zoom seems not to work (may be my fault, i'm new with chdk)
The test version still has some problems, one is the Optical Zoom
To use it, enable it in CHDK menu then
Start Video Record
Zoom Out for ~ 2 seconds
Then use the Optical Zoom as normal.

Hope this helps, OldGit.

I checked the partition of the sd card, I  format it  with the sx 200, it's a
FAT I don't know if 16 or 32 ??? and only one partition
there is a CCHDK.CFG file created after first use of CHDK 3 ko, in the chdk folder

I use a 4 Go sd, I tried also with a 1Go same_same, no saving of the settings

sorry to bother....

you could try CardTricks (see my signature) if you want to format it as FAT16
it should not make a difference, but then again, this is still beta isn't it ...

@dnl4u
The config file normally is written, when a setting has changed in the CHDK menu and you leave the <Alt> mode.
Don't power off the camera while you're in <Alt> mode, in this case the settings will not be saved.

-> enter the CHDK menu, change a setting, leave <Alt> mode, wait some seconds & then power the camera off...does this work ?

I just checked on my sx200, changes to settings are being saved.
Make sure you are using the latest version of the port, you can check on the porting thread.
For clarity, on the sx200 port the <alt> button is Print.

As fe50 has said you need to go into <alt> mode (print button)
then display the menu (menu button) change your settings as required.
To exit the menus use the Disp button to go back to the first menu screen.
Then press Menu to exit.
Finally press Print again to exit the <alt> mode wait a few seconds and turn off.

Good luck, and welcome aboard.

sorry, I feel stupid....
I did everything as you say.....no saving....

I tried the 100c version on one card, the 100d on another one.... same problem

I made the sd card bootable, thinking it was may be the way of switching on that was a problem...
the bootable card works but no saving anyway

I am careful about using the display button, always coming back with  alt before switching off...
I bought my sx200 last week, may be a new firmware from Canon ????

I just discover some details....

I was testing the "saving settings" ONLY with bracketing

with bracketing, really no saving

I looked a little deeper this morning, the other settings are correctly saved ( histogram, coluours, temp., etc)

I didn't chek every fonction....but definately, impossible to save the settings in bracketing

Ahhhhrg - this is a FEATURE, not a BUG !

Clear bracket values on Start [ ] in the Extra Photo Operations -- bracketing menu, default value is ON
   and also
Clear override values@start [ ] in the Extra Photo Operations menu, default value is also ON.
