Hello everyone.

I bought a Powershot 590IS last year and I was wondering if CHDK adds the possibility to record videos  at a res of  640x480 with a framerate of 30fps.  I didn't see this on the "Major CHDK features" list and was hoping it was a "minor" one :P. If not, does it add the possibility to improve the quality of videos recorded at 320x240 ?

no. If you search for a590 30 fps you should find many discussions of this.

I guess you could use the video compression overrides to increase the quality a bit, but it won't compare with 640x480.

the a590 unfortunately is a bit "poor" in terms of support to chdk features. it will not zoom while filming, for example. but otherwise it is a great camera by itself. for 30fps you should go for a A570, but these are almost impossible to find used...

ok, I'm back to update my post. with the current build (903 I guess) zoom is working in movies. it even mutes the mic while zooming.

(I refreshed this just in case someone gets to this topic by google or search)
