Hi, can anyone help me please? Im using sx120is-100b-0.9.9-912-full and I need to use bigger SDcard, but I cannt manually start CHDK (I think its because theres no PS.FI2 file or something similar to make camera think Im going to upgrade firmware. Am I right? Can I do something with it (like update to the same version)? Thanks much
Use a multi partition setup - create 2 partitions, a small FAT16-formatted one for startup and a big FAT32 data partition.

Thanks for quick answers. Ill read more about amp glow. What made me think its sw problem is, that the pattern is allways identical. Maybe it should at least be removed or repaired after making a picture of sth dark only with these corners visible, isnt it?

I have the card divided into two partitions, I can boot from the FAT16 one, but cannt start manually from the second, because I have no PS.FI2 and in camera menu theres no "update firmware" possibility. (I have the beta version from this thread post #446) Where I can get this file or is another way to start CHDK manually? Thanks

Sorry, but a ps.fi2 file is currently not possible for the sx120. You can use only the automatic start method. Some other cameras (e.g. G11, SX20) have also this problem.

You may also be able to use http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Loader as a manual start method, but I haven't heard from anyone who has tried it on these cameras.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

On a multi partition setup, CHDK starts from the first (small, FAT16-formatted, CHDK-bootable) partition and automatically swaps over to the 2nd (big, FAT32) partition, all data will also be stored on the 2nd partition.

BTW - i don't know whether the CHDK multi partition support on the SX120 is ok, other SX120 users might give feedback for this...

It works fine for me on the SX120. Put sdminst.exe onto both partitions so that you can easily swap the SD card between 'camera mode' (small FAT16 partition first) and 'PC mode' (large FAT32 partition first).

It'd be great if someone could fix/generate a working ps.fi2 for the SX120 so that swapping in both directions could be done in-camera. As it stands, you can swap from 'camera' to 'PC' mode, but not back again.

I spent a few hours with dumps and supposedly working keys, but couldn't generate a working ps.fi2 (the discboot.bin built was OK, before anyone asks). The camera didn't report a firmware upgrade error, but would either stick on the black screen or reboot without CHDK.

I followed the instructions, but when I try to turn on my camera, it does not work. When I change the card (to one that does not have CHDK), the camera turns on. Can anyone help me please? This is my first attempt to use CHDK.

For chamber inclusion (using PS.FI2 from reply 446):
firmware update-> Ok-> "power on/off" button 4-5 sec.
Loading PS.FI2 works for me :)

That's the PS.FI2 I built, but it doesn't work for me. No errors, but CHDK doesn't load.

What exactly do you mean by ""power on/off" button 4-5 sec"?

CHDK should reboot and load automatically after the "OK" stage, but I think I've tried every combination of keys apart from that anyway. No luck.

How can I run script without CHDK allready running?

Thanks that works. (Its possible to swap partitions from FAT16 to FAT32 in camera or computer and back only in computer.)

Which instructions?
Take SD card not bigger than 4GB. Format it to FAT16. Unpack sx120is-100b-0.9.9-912-full.zip from post #446 on it. Lock the card. Put it in SX120IS. Push ON button for little longer.
