Almost - when I hold down the power button, I get a one second-long splash screen that says chdk, but then it reverts to the stock menu subsystem.
What am I still doing wrong?

has any one got the MD_Face to work? for me it runs but never captures a image. I'm using 1.1.0 build 606 from http://forum.chdk-treff.de/download.php everything else is working brilliantly, but i was hoping to use the face detect to capture images during a party without having to man the camera myself.

@cyberhun that sounds like its working just press the face detect button to activate the alt menu then press menu to access chdk. when you need the standard menu back just press face detect again

Thanks, vnshng - that's got it.

Now I guess I need to start learning German or find a version with an English menu system.
:)

I think you can simply delete the language file german.lng in CHDK/LANG and the menus revert to English.

Yup - that worked too, thanks ww.
:)

This is going to seem like a really stupid question - but, since loading CHDK appears to require holding down the playback button and not the off/on switch near the shutter-button, it only starts in playback mode with the lens retracted, and all that happens when you press the shutter button is it wants to start a script.
How do you get the lens to extend so you can shoot pics?
I did look through the wiki but nothing leapt out at me.
Hmm ...

Standard practice is to hold the off/on switch down for a couple of seconds to get the lens out.  I assume the SX120 probably works that way too.   Its kind of annoying if you are in a hurry to capture something quick though.

Got it - thanks again.
Seems to be working like a charm now.
Good stuff.

Wow - kudos to the dev team.  I've got raw format, zoom-during-video and can get over the 16 second exposure limitation - awesome!  Over-riding the 16 second exposure limit seems to cause it to incorrectly stamp the files as 15 seconds, not the true exposure length but so what?
I love all the extra little indicators too.
Nice going.
:)

edit:
Got some scripts running now too - very cool.
I notice the sensor temp can be displayed - if I had it running in intervalometer mode, shooting a couple times a minute for several hours, might the sensor get too hot?

The JPG meta data (EXIF) only covers the camera's original firmware range & uses the nearest known Canon-value, e.g. 15s (the camera's max. value) for all exposures longer than 15 seconds.

Dependant from the camera model the correct values can be found in the maker notes section from the EXIF data - you may use Phil Harvey's EXIFTOOL to view or modify those meta data entries...

Hi, can someone tell me the difference between these builds, please?
sx120is-100b-1.1.0-full_rev_622 dated 20110409
vs.
sx120is-100b-0.9.9-912-full dated 20101205 ?

I like much more having smaller font and osd, which is in sx120is-100b-0.9.9-912-full dated 20100715. In Reply #467 is, that its a mistake. Does it affect something? Thanks
