with chdk enabled and without a script, it is now storing images on the card. which is cool, for some reason i wasn't recognising that they were or something. all's good, it seems. however, running the scripts is another story.

i'm using (or attempting to use) the 'ultra intervalometer' script, with a couple of default values changed so that it shoots every 5 seconds after a 3 second start, and endless until i interrupt it. 'shoot' is now changed to 'shoot_full', but there's nothing being recorded using the sequence i tried in the first post. in lieu of a video cable, can anyone see something obviously wrong with that? like is there a confirmation question after selecting a script to load, or something?

on the topic of the cable, i wouldn't really care about the audio side of things, but i'm not sure if that cable would work for just the video side of things.

@auswiki
the correct command is click "shoot_full"
Run the script in the cameras Manual mode, disable the flash (OFF, not AUTO).

You can also try this script: yet another accurate intervalometer
It's also attached to this post (file yaaint.lua); download the file & put i to your \CHDK\SCRIPTS  folder.
It's a Lua script, working with half_press/full_press shutter emulation, this should work for you...

hmm, i'm getting the same results with that script. admittedly, you'll have to forgive my noobiness. it's my first day with chdk, this camera, and without a working screen: manual mode - is that an operation in or outside or chdk? similarly with the flash.

but yeah, i'm still not sure i'm properly loading the scripts from memory yet, so i'm not sure if the scripts themselves are the problem. i'll keep experimenting, though... thanks for the help :)

(please pardon my double post, there's just one thing i'd really like to have checked on this question)

the sequence of button presses - clearly (as i'm getting no pictures) it doesn't end up loading and running a script. could someone tell me why not? obviously i'm missing something out in the sequence. that is, after loading chdk, i'm pressing the following:

shutter full press (extends lens, so it's not in playback mode any more)
direct print button (switch to alt mode)
menu button
down x4 (navigate to 'script menu')
func. set. (select script menu)
func. set (select 'load script')
func. set (load the first script in the chdk/scripts folder. i renamed an intervalometer script to be aaaa.bas to ensure it would be first, also the other example scripts have been removed)

(purely guesswork)
menu (exit the menu? i'm not sure)
and press the shutter to start the script.

(all blatantly copy-pasted from the first post)
sorry to be a mild nuisance, but no matter the script, i'm just trying to get one to load and run. thanks again to anyone willing to donate the time. :)

(edit - also, i'm asking around to find someone with a canon camera as well, so i can borrow the video cable - but i'm not having much luck yet)

There's a CHDK cfg editor floating around somewhere. Perhaps you could use that to set your script to run at startup.

Also, when in alt mode, pressing func set will take you directly to the script menu.

When you are selecting the script, the first entry is ../ followed by any sub directories in the script directory, followed by the script files in alphabetical order.

You can press menu to leave the script menu when you are done.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

nice program, zeno - i think i'm missing something vital, though. i can open the cfg, change the values so that it should load the script automatically and run it on startup, change values etc. but the 'save as cfg...' button is unclickable. it's save-able as a text file, though. i assume it's a minor problem, easily fixed? if so, please help - this would be as easy a fix as through the video cable.

might it be because it only supports the allbest and morebest builds? i assume the one i get on the main downloads page of chdk.wikia is not one of those.

and, reyalp -
going from what you say, i've made some changes to the sequence, but it's not happening yet. assuming that there are no sub-directories in the scripts folder, and i'm shooting for the first one in the list,

*load chdk*

shutter full press (extends lens, so it's not in playback mode any more)
direct print button (switch to alt mode)
func. set. (select script menu)
func. set (select 'load script')
down
func. set (load the first script)

menu
and press the shutter to start the script.

no problems with that?

thanks for your patience, everyone.

@auskiwi

to avoid having to navigate to your script, you could save it as default.bas (overwriting the existing one, obviously)
that way your script would already be selected even by a fresh CHDK install

I'm not sure this is true any more, the default script is a string in memory now.

i hate to leave the thread hanging, so here's the shameful truth - i broke the camera.

to cut a long story short, extending the battery life looked a fine idea when the alternative battery had a greater mAh rating, same voltage, and the same connection locations, along with fitting into the slot fine - however, i should have checked that the positive and negative terminals were in the same place.

hence, don't worry about the advice for navigation. :( thanks for the help anyway.

going out with a *facepalm*,

auskiwi.
