CHDK gives a lot of new features and the limits of some parameters are broken.
It looks as if everything is fine now and cameras are working just fine. But howcome Canon didn't let users have these features by default? I mean it now seems that Canon has set a lot of limitations or missed out on making the cameras even better and I can't help wondering why they did that.They could've at least added the zebra and the histogram for example and even added zoom to video (it's useful although it's a bit rough). And why is there a 1 GB video limit?
On the published scripts there are fortunately warnings about particular ones that may harm the camera but maybe we should use this thread to discuss about various safety issues.

one warning would be that the camera shouldn't be left running for too long on a DC source for example

Hmm... what is the reason? I run my A620 over hours on a 6V DC source, I found out that the 4.3V written on the bottom of the camera are causing an undervoltage message.

Canon cameras are often used on a DC source on a permanent basis for webcam purposes.

HI Guys,

I expect this is nothing to do with CHDK but the 13 month old g7 is dead, no startup, nothing. Any other experiences here, I am particularly interested in finding the reset button if this puppy has one.

None of the Canon's Powershot cameras have reset button. But do not worry! Just open the battery compartment's door and close it back - this will reset your camera  :)
