This will probably not work, cameras don't support ntfs.

Anyway, this is a way to do it in xp/2003:

Plug in card in cardreader (also works on usb-sticks and other), go to device manager, disk drives, right-click your card,
choose properties, and in the policies tab, select "optimize for performance" or similar, then press OK.

After this it can be formatted to ntfs via windows explorer as usual.
