filled mcard with motion detect, now cam won't turn on

ok - i set the cam up when i left for work, and over the day the mem card filled up. when i got home it just had the normal 'mem card full' notice. no problem - i was expecting this - so i did a 'delet all'.

i think i left it cos it was taking ages to delete, and i can't remember if i turned it off or it turned itself off. either way, when i went to turn it back on, it wouldn't fire up, in either play or shoot mode.

after a while i figured out that if i 'unlocked' the mem card, it turned on. But the CHDK doesn't autoboot when unlocked, and i couldn't figure out how to boot it up manually as the A530 doesn't have the 'update firmware' option in the menu.

so i used card tricks to reinstall chdk, and now it works fine. problem is tho i don't want to have to reinstall chdk every time i fill the mem card.

any thoughts on what may have caused this?
