tested...while shooting pics works fine and NO boot crashes, the scripts are still will not work with any changes to the msleep.

the mint.lua script gives :24: unexpected symbol

anyhow

could the problem be with something in the boot.c code for the sx20?  i look through it but have a hard time understanding it totally.

i ask because the problem is with booting the camera - and only when there is two partitions, fat and a fat32....

happens for both a long press of power button and the quick press to go to playback mode.

when crashing going into playback, the crash happens during the display of the canon logo, getting no chdk splash before crashing.

press and hold to start in rec mode...is the camera crashes even before the chdk splash screen comes on the screen and even before the cameras os can post the numbers showing pics remaing and video time remaining.

with a single partition, it loads very quick - the cameras pics remaining and video time remaining appear and then the splashscreen shows for chdk and its ready to go.

can that help to narrow it down a bit?

edit: hope this helps as well, now that i have to time to figure this out....heres the romlog! after a crash

NEZtrom

can i have a link to the fast mdscript to test it

and can you test this script

cause for me, even changing msleep(50) to 1000 causes the script to return :24: unexpected symbol

i have found that even if i don't make any changes to the code at all,  when i compile with chdk shell without changing anything in there either, the mint.lua script will not work at all.

don't know what to make of this....

so maybe it is not the change to the code (msleep In hopes of fixing the boot crash) that was causing the script not to work......

confusing....

don't have time to check all scripts at all.

Hi bdasmith

"mint.lua" does not work ( return " :24: unexpected symbol " )

not disappointed!, I leave for you two scripts Intervalometer Time Lapse that work well, are what I use.

"TimeLapse.bas.tar.gz"         http://www.megaupload.com/?d=945FV7BX

test with what I compile....

NEZtron

do you have a link to the fast MD script for me to try?

i compiled my own with 1067...changed the msleep(50) to msleep(500) and no games
have been testing and No crashes

seems fast and stable

only script i tested was mint.lua that won't work
the scripts that come with it (timer and such) work fine

if only that one (which i don't use) isn't working is okay by me, but for others that do want to use it or have it i hope a different fix can be found, which is why i got the ROMLOG attached in my previous post

as you said there other scripts that do work such as the ones you have tested

thanks NEZtron and bernd R and everyone else :)

I am enjoying learning about this stuff!

so seem clear its not the msleep command.
I use since longer time msleep(100).this work too, and i never get a boot crash since i use it.

but i suggest before you go to smaller values first test large value 1-2 weeks to see if it is really stable.

without the msleep patch, my camera crash not often.and when msleep time is too short, it can maybe happen that camera crash in 1 of 200 starts.

can you post a link to the "mint.lua"  script so i can test what happen on Ixus 1000 ?

maybe you can write the dev who build the SX20 Versions, a Mail so he can tell how SX20 compile ok.
