awww, I was so looking forward to trying out chdk on my new sx20, but it turns out I also have the GM1.02B firmware.

I barely understood anything reading through that thread for dumping the firmware.  Seems kind of complicated. I actually do have some C background from a class I took in college a couple of years ago, but I can't really claim to remember much of it.

The new super fine option works excellently! My biggest disappointment from the SX20 is now solved.

Many thanks!

Same here :)

Seems dumping doesn't work, the blinker requires a photosensitive sensor (out here in the boonies hard to get, unless ordered online),... I did spend most of yesterday and some of today reading up, but it doesn't seem to be a very easy thing to do (getting a firmware dump).
Are there other alternatives to getting a dump?

Hello colleagues I apologize for the translation, because badly speak English.
Explain to me how to view the RAW-pictures? I saw that some of asked a similar question in this thread and the answer was a link. But because of his knowledge of the language, do not cope with large volumes of text.
I obtained the file type "H: \ DCIM \ 100CANON \ CRW_0001.CRW", if you rename it to *. raw and open in Photoshop, applying a color depth 8bit get this image: link to an image, link to the original CRW (zip, 16 megs). Other programs such as ACDSee say they can not recognize the source data format. And always the size of photos obtained 17.7mb.
This is something I am doing wrong or a version of CHDK on my camera down is not able to carry photos in format RAW?

Also interested in the question of the location of inscriptions in the OSD. At one laid in the subject image I saw that the icons are arranged in a different way, not blocking the informative part of the display.
Attached images:

Information about the Camera:
Model: SX20 IS
Firmware: 100F
uploaded CHDK-sx20-100f-0.9.9-866, formatted the card in FAT16, made a boot partition, unpacked her file "DISKBOOT.BIN", switched to a state of "Lock" and threw my camera.

thx (:

Hello & welcome, zippovka !

Explain to me how to view the RAW-pictures?
The CHDK RAW image "format" is not a standardized image format, it's just a sensor data dump, i.e. the unmodified data from the camera's CCD sensor.
Most applications don't know this "format"; you can try the newest version of the following apps / viewers:

* RAWTherapee
* XNView image viewer
* Google Picasa

The easier way is to enable the CHDK DNG format (i don't know whether the SX20 beta build supports this !): Enable DNG support guidance (SX10).

You can change the position of the OSD items from the CHDK menu:
Enter the OSD parameters menu, then goto the OSD layout editor; read more about this feature in the CHDK user manual...

You can download the needed script file from here:
http://tools.assembla.com/chdk/browser/trunk/CHDK/SCRIPTS/TEST/badpixel.lua

...just save the file "badpixel.lua" to the \CHDK\SCRIPTS folder on your SD card; then follow my guidance from above...

The problem was uploading a file on the SDHC 16 GB, divided by FAT16 \ FAT32. The second part never been seen, and after the function "switch patritions" could not return it back, because no manual loader. And from sx10 not approached. I had to find the old 2GB card and test on it. All earned.
Many thanks for your help!

but the problem remains open! how to get access to both parts of the card without losing the functionality of CHDK ...
use Windows 7. driver usb-hdd not approached.

To swap the partitions in the camera, both start methods - manual AND automatic - are needed; i'm not sure whether a ps.fi2 (for manual loading) for the SX20 beta is available.

You can use the SDM installer to swap the partitions: Swap partitions with SDM installer.

--> Remove all removeable media from your computer first
--> Read & follow those instructions very CAREFULLY !
