Still an issue with the time or something in the top right corner on my port though.

If this is what happened to me, it was configured to show only the seconds. Also - I had to edit the screen layout and bring the whole timer section back into screen, as by default part of it was outside the screen. If not, maybe I did not understand properly.

@kaych - I do the conversion in the camera (in RAW menu I choose save as RAW and somewhere in the middle there's save as DNG). I believe that for DNG that you have to create the badpixel.txt file yourself, off camera, as the LUA libs were disabled (in 100f code) because of some incompatibilities ? So the camera can't do the file itself. Then you put it into CHDK/ folder on the card - and that's it.
Mine takes some seconds (3-4-5 dunno exactly) to process everything though - a bit annoying to shoot raw (or better ? forcing me to think more :D before waiting 5 seconds for an image that is useless).

Anyway, I've noticed one thing - and I was thinking of asking fellow SX20 owners here. The photos that have a lot of colors in background don't seem to be focused right, even if AF was locked with confirmed green rectangle. I mean if I shoot a portrait against some dull background, perfect focus on the person. If however the background has a lot of colors, AF is reported OK (green rectangle) but on the PC the photo is not in focus (not terribly out the focus though) but like a blur effect was applied. In the past I only owned a Canon S50 - I saw this blurred effect only when the AF rectangle was yellow but I still decided to made the photo. A bit annoying to activate focus bracketing and manual focusing ..

You have not read/understood the documentation.

Please read the documentation again. CRW is not the correct raw format, it needs to be converted either on camera or in software to DNG.

Its worth noting that some of the tools out there like DNG4PS do not yet support the SX20. Its work spending a little time and effort getting the camera to output DNG.

Remember this is BETA it will not 'just work'. There are many bugs and places where functionality just doesn't work. By using this software you've go to understand this. I've attached a reg file that MIGHT make dng4ps compatible. It works for me but anyone else might have to make some changes - I didn't use the reg file or test it ;).

NEvermind, you modified your post while I was replaying :)

The link to download the program to convert isn't working so I will try again in a few days.

AFAIK the SX20 doesn't have a ND (Neutral density) filter.

Thanks that makes sense now.

This is where 102f beat 100f owners. I'm building against trunk so LUA has full support. I managed with a little hardship (couldn't see script output) to get the badpixel.lua file to work and produce the file all on the camera!

Seems OK on my camera. Its not as simple as a grubby lens. I have a UV filter on mine and every now and then it manages to focus on a piece of dust that i've not rubbed off it. What distance are you shooting at?

How did you do this?

Ahh in the CHDK OSD menu. Nice didn't know you could do that. Easy fix but is it hinting at another problem or am I just difficult to please?

The reg file got the images to show up but I still got this error "Error: Can't find camera profile for this file" so I'll see if I can mess around in it and figure it out.

Thanks for taking the time to respond :)

Okay, so I tried it on my laptop and now they will convert, but not open! I can open it in Windows7 viewer but not Lightroom, Cs3 etc. I'm going to take my  kid to the park and test the camera and work on importing them later.

@acid2000 - Sweet about LUA :) I'm waiting for neszt to see if he managed to clean up the code.

One thing that I now remember that is a bit annoying on 100f - and was wondering if its the same for the newer version. When I do a photo with the camera held vertically, the EXIF orientation flagis not set properly if the camera runs with CHDK. It is set correctly if I boot the camera without chdk. Meaning that a vertical photo will look upside down when downloaded to PC.

I've gave it a shot to see what happens, but it doesn't seem easy to fix? Without CHDK - the orientation of vertically shot photos flag is "right top"; with CHDK running, the orientation flag is set as "left bottom" and the photo looks upside down.

About the focus: I don't have any filter, my subjects were at let's say between 1 and 4 meters away (~13 feet). If the background was a dull building, only the sea, etc, photo was OK. However, if the background was a wall of a restaurant with lots of colors, then somehow the distance was not computed properly but still focus was reported as locked (it had enough light though, the EXIF show 1/250 and ISO 80, F 2.8 ) . The girl, she has bright white skin - is always in focus :)) though.

I've just checked, its still a bug in our build. Defiantly not a bug in CHDK as it works on my other camera.

Its pretty easy now. Should just need to use the update camera.h, everything else stays in the sx20 subdir.

102 current bugs list:

1. Screen refreshing is either not happening often enough or doesn't always work. It might be something to do with this line:
Code: [Select]
*(int*)0x9CEC=3;//this is set somewhere in a function called by RefreshPhysicalScreen, should be easy to findI haven't found the easy to find code.
2. script output messages are not displayed correctly on screen, just get a box with no text
3. movie mode high quality fails after a few seconds of recording
4. zebra doesn't work at all - no idea why
5. rotation data isn't put into the EXIF or is incorrect.
6. only know of 1 LED address, the tally.

hi,
as I wrote the firmware 1.02C now I wanted to know what method I use to download the firmware and give the opportunity to begin development of CHDK.

Trying to test , not sure what I have done wrong as I have followed everything as far installation wise, keep getting a Update file error on the firmware update prompt screen or the CHDK logo on write protect and the camera freezes?? Any ideas on this? CHDK screen shows correctly and shows the correct 102b build, also shows the correct beta build.
