SX 20 IS firmware 1.02b beta testing

Still a lot of testing to be done, but I wanted to provide a status of what I've tested so far with the results & comments. The following link is to a copy of my test document. I started with photos I shot (and cropped) of all of the current beta menus. I then added text & graphics from the 2009 New CHDK User Guide where appropriate. I have been deleting minor areas/options/exceptions that do not apply to the SX 20 IS as I test.

Since Rapidshare requires a file size larger than 5MB, I had to include a "filler" file with the document. Just delete it after downloading and executing the self-extracting file (its a photo of my brother-in-laws dog). As always, recommend you test the file downloaded with your Antivirus software before executing.

I'll be testing in earnest until I finish. If we get another beta release I'll try to repeat the same.

Update:
I forgot to edit a comment in the histogram section. I added a second sentence after I discovered how to move the histogram displayed. The comment now reads, "All options displayed, however the multi histograms (such as RGB all) displays needed to be higher on the display because you can only see the very top portion the last one. This can be remedied by adjusting where it is displayed by navigating using Main Menu, OSD parameters and then OSD layout editor."

I feel the same way... I read this every day and check back constantly. Cant wait for the release. I can only hope that one the 1.02b build is final than the 1.02c will be that much closer and easier. Thanks for the hard work guys who do this for us.

Well, there exists yet another firmware version for the SX20: 1.02D.
I updated the wiki page, and am hoping to help as much as I can to create a port. I will try to blink it for a start, and then we'll see what more I can do (I have no intention of loosing the ability to shoot in RAW :)

First thanks to everyone whose sent message of support!

I've uploaded a new version which fixes some of the scripting bugs people have seen. If everyone could find anymore that would be great.

Known bugs in this build:
  • Zebra mode crashes the camera after one shot
  • Dialogs and CHDK screen stuff doesn't clear correctly


Update:

I've just literally fixed the screen refresh bug! Expect a new build in a few hours.

I can probably port another version of the SX20 in a few days once the 102b is done and I have a valid firmware dump. You can dump it out by reading http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Porting_the_CHDK#Q._How_can_I_get_a_firmware_dump.3F and some of the posts at the start of this thread.

OK here is the new build. It should fix quite a few of the issues everyone has had.

The only issue I know of in this build is that zebra mode works on one shot then crashes the camera. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Please report any other issues and also note that the canon OSD can occasionally interfere with the CHDK menu. That it not a bug.

I  have crash after 2 or 3 shots in edge overlay and zebra , but I think every other thing is ok.

Great work on fixing screen refresh! Acid2000, applauses!  :D

Definitely, should "go pub".

Just made a build from the latest acid2000's code. The zebra crash is as expected. Strangely enough, I was unable to reproduce the edge overlay crash savalangh mentioned. Can anybody give hints how to make it crashing reliably, so I can analyze the dump?
