There is a build for the 100F firmware models on that thread which I have downloaded. (Post #1246 http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4348.msg65423#msg65423) It seems from what I can glean from the conversations it works, but has not been approved for download on the Autobuild.It has a patch attachment that I don't know how or where to insert in the code. I'd like to try it in my camera. Do you know how or if you should add the patch?
I think it enables the speed feature that is crashing on my version of the build.

The patch describes the changes to the source code used to make the build that is also attached to that post. You don't need that to use the build attached to that post, you would only use it if you want to make your own build.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Just want to report that build (sx20-100f-0) above crashed the camera as did the Autobuild (1.02B: sx20-102b-0.9.9-1220-full.zip)

Oddly enough, the long exposure override times=64sec. with a value=1 , for example functions just fine.

Hello Lebowski

this is realy interesting... there are a few users which tried the version under (Post #1246 http://chdk.setepontos.com index.php?topic=4348.msg65423#msg65423), but you are the first who reports that the camera crashes from the beginning. ???

Are you sure you have a 100f? Can you explain what happens exactly?

Greetings Frank
SX20 (1.02b)

Hello everybody,
I don't know if this is the right topic for my issue.
I start from the begin.
I had a 4 Gb SDHC Class 4. I formatted it in FAT16 with card tricks (not standard cluster size) and I experienced the emotion of CHDK on my sx20. Nevertheless, this memory card had already had some trouble before installing chdk... Some days ago, indeed, the SD card died. After that, I probably did a stupid thing: I bought a 8Gb SDHC card and then I noticed that the 2 partitions method needs the firmware update mechanism... So, doesn't my sx20 support for dual-partitions? Is there anything I can do to run chdk on that card?
Thanks in advance to whom will try to help me!

This is not correct. You simply have to prepare the partitions from a PC.

Yep, I was wrong. By the way (maybe this will be helpful for other users) I'll try to follow this tutorial:
http://mind-fields-ahead.blogspot.com/2008/04/canon-s5-is-chdk-hack-step-by-step.html Edit: WORKED

If I'll get a fail, I will divide the card into 2 equal fat16 partitions, both bootable:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have another question which is more practical...
Canon sx20 gives the possibility to select the power of flash and CHDK gives it too.
The power could be set at low, middle or strong.
Nevertheless, I don't understand how to obtain the same power of a shot in which flash is automatically managed by the camera. I will explain the problem with an example:
The following shots were taken in a room with little light; the wall was about 1,5meters far.

- Shot 1: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/838/img0229cu.jpg/
Mode Av; Av 2.8; Tv 1/60; ISO 200; Flash popped up;
In mode Av it is the camera that manages the power of flash. I only set Av and ISO and camera selected Tv and flash. It seems that it does 2 quick low flashes.

However, I rarely use Av or Tv modes.
I usually shot in Manual mode
- Shot 2: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/190/img0230ru.jpg/
Mode M; Av 2.8; Tv 1/60; ISO 200; Flash popped up @ LOW power;
In manual mode, setting everything as the previous shot, the low power flash results to be not enough.
Let's try to use the middle power.

Shot 3: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/339/img0231qu.jpg/
Mode M; Av 2.8; Tv 1/60; ISO 200; Flash popped up @ MIDDLE power;
The flash is definitely too powerful and the shot is unusable.

I wish chdk gave the possibility to set also a flash-power like the one used by the camera in the first shot; I also think that an automatic flash mode would be useful even in Manual mode (Ok, I want to set Av, Tv, flash On/Off and ISO level, but flash power and focus should be managed by camera if I prefer so).

Any advise about this task? Could it be a main chdk proposal?
