Changing firmware?

Noob here, if this is in the wrong forum please move it.  I have a canon sd700 w/1.00b.  I found the 1.01b firmware.  Is changing the firmware as simple as putting the 1.01b.fr file on the sd card and updating it through the menu?  Any input is helpful.  Thanks.

Yes, that's true. Just do not forget to charge batteries before.
(I guess you are talking about an official update?)

Well there isn't an official update and it turns out all I can find for the 1.01b is dumps.  So I guess I'm stuck with 1.00b?

As SD700 is already ported and the dump of 1.00b have been gotten, I guess it could be easy to add support for it. But who will do it?

The Firmware has been already dumped:

I'd like to ask the man, who manages the "SD700_CHDK_Porting" wikia page - please, publish this firmware on the mentioned page!

RAR archive contains:
1) firmware dump, of course  Smiley
2) modified soundcard blinker source (1600bod, blue LED)
3) modified adc.c and dec.c sources and exes (level thresholds, 1600bod, 96KHz sampling)
4) dec.exe log files (crc-failed blocks were "reblinked")

I'm wondering the same thing, if it's not that difficult maybe we can team up and get one done.

Not difficult, since usually RAM locations are the same.
Now support for IXUS800 1.00B added - look http://ewavr.nm.ru/hdk/ for binaries (without any guarantees).
