@850is_user:

- What's your firmware version, is it really 1.00e ?
- When do the camera crash - when you set up the CHDK overrides, when you enter/leave the CHDK menu, when you press the shutter button... ?
- Do you see any error messages or something else on the screen, are there some LED's on/blinking,
  can you power off the camera with the power button... ?
- What type & size of SD card do you use ?
- How do you start CHDK (manual / autostart with locked card) ?
- Did you try it with a clean environment ? (SD card with max. 2 GB, formatted in the camera, with fresh DL package, NOT using an old config file) ?

100e is not a CHDK version. It is the the canon firmware version that your camera must have to use that build of CHDK. You need to find out the canon version of your camera: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

Hi,
As previously mentionned, I used http://mighty-hoernsche.de/bins/ixus850_sd800-100e-0.9.9-858-full.zip, but with mid-2008 version of CHDK I had the same problem : override with "subj dist value" crashes my camera (details in my previous post).

If you want help, I suggest actually reading the replies. Once again, we are not asking which CHDK version you are using. We are asking which canon firmware version you camera has.

Hi,

So no one has an explanation on the only feature not working for me ?
CHDK works fine except for "subj dist value" that crashes the camera (being set from overrides or bracketing).
I've been using CHDK for more than 1,5 year, through overrides, scripts... and "subj dist value" did never work.

By the way, "set_focus" function does not work either within the scripts...
Probably related to the same bug :-/

I patched and compiled from the link you sent, and fired up chdkptp.

It kinda works, but has some serious quirks.

In PLAY mode, the live view works.

In REC mode, for stills (P mode, AUTO mode and so on) the live view has some nasties, sometimes it shows the previous PLAY mode buffer,  sometimes it shows garbage all over the screen, but it doesn't actually show the live view, and the <ALT> shortcuts menu seems to have a mind of its own. It appears, vanishes, half appears, vanishes and so forth.

The live view half works (literally) if I select a video mode, I get live view on the left hand side of the screen, and half of the last still image on the right.

On the positive side, it does however let me take usable .JPG and .DNG pictures from chdkptp and download them to my PC.
