way to change start-up image? (SX120IS)

Question for you folks that have dumped some firmware...

Is there a "magic" filename you can put on the SD card to replace the start-up image?

I have a new SX120IS, but I imagine other cameras would be similar.

Thanks
Robert

I believe it's CHDK/DATA/logo.dat.

As for format, I have no clue...maybe it's been described somewhere. If not, you'll have to look at the source (core/gui.c, search for functions that handle splash or that file name)...

You talk about camera startup image?
No such filename.
This can be done using Canon software from CD (ZoomBrowser).

This can be done using Canon software from CD (ZoomBrowser).

ZoomBrowser EX (6.4.0.7) doesn't offer to change it on the SX120IS.  I called Canon and tech support said it couldn't be changed (which I find surprising)

re: logo.dat
CHDK isn't supported on this camera yet... (but the firmware was dumped, so it's a start)

**UPDATE** I just checked 6.4.1.0 and it doesn't seem to have a place to do it either.  The only editable field on the CameraWindow DC preferences is "Owner Name" (which supposedly goes into jpg metadata)

I believe it's CHDK/DATA/logo.dat.

As for format, I have no clue

The CHDK logo is 150x84 = 12,600 pixels.
However, the DAT file only needs to contain 2,448 bytes.
The top three bits define one of eight colours, the bottom five bits define how often that colour is to be repeated.
