I need a build for the TX-1. Is there any equivalent version that will work?

Can/will someone provide some insights please.

All I really need is simultaneous shutter release of twinned TX-1's. Anything else would just be gravy (although I'm sure I'd find a use for additional features!!).

TIA,

A number of stereo photographers are interested in this camera but no firmware dump available.

OK Thanks for the reply. I'll try to find out more about why there is no dump available.

In the meantime, is there any way to simply trigger the shutters through the USB ports without all the additional features? I don't know what's involved, so pardon my lack of knowledge. I'm just wondering if the "shutter triggering routine" is generic enough that it could be brute forced in...???

In other words, are there enough similarities among the cameras to take an educated guess at something that would work?

TIA,

Before you even think of that,  the camera has to be ported to the basic CHDK before any enhanced stereo-shooting features are added.

Are you going to buy a camera to find out  ? :)

Then, are you going to buy two cameras to check synch ?  ;)

Check the WIKI to see what is involved in the porting process.

I already have four TX-1's.

I've been shooting stereo pix for months now using "double thumbing" and was on the verge of disassembling one to try to synch them by soldering a switch to the shutter releases.

A friend of mine who was having trouble getting his twinned SD1000's to fire simultaneously asked for my help in solving that problem and I became aware of all this amazing CHDK work that has been happening. Now I'm drooling to be able to apply some of it to my TX-1's.

How can we make that happen...???

TIA,

I already have four TX-1's.

That certainly helps !

That will not give the precision synch that SDM provides.
Besides, the USB signal can be used by a script to trigger all sorts of events.

SDM supports that with precision synch, it will be released this  weekend.

I will send you a personal message.

I've read through all the SDM docs and grok them, and I got my friend's rig working so I can make the USB hardware easily. Have done some Basic programming in the past, so if you need some testing done, I'll be able to assist in that area and we'll have four TX-1 cameras to compare for glitches similarities, etc.
Two are US versions & two are "Japan Only" versions so we see if there are any differences.

I'm looking into making a 4-outlet USB trigger!

"feets don' fail me now...!"
