The actual shutter-release does not need a PCB of course.
I am thinking of adding tiny sockets on one camera that connect to the other with a tiny piece of ribbon cable.

The second camera would have an additional pair of sockets where you plugin wires that connect to a hand grip containing the continuous-shooting flash PCB.

Yea, it doesn't need the pcb but for controlled flash and continuous... but come on, I'm drooling for continuous. Perhaps gauging the interest and doing a group buy of some pcbs and parts is in order? Make a kit version so all they have to do is solder it up...

Don't do that, join the Yahoo StereoData Maker Group :-
Done!

'Course if/when SDM can get camera inter-operability perfected so one camera's controls slaves the other camera for every single function, with nanosecond delay, regardless of model... without fussing with any submenus or SDM values... I'm hoping for invisible but rock-solid dependable slave setup. (Just because I'm really happy doesn't mean there's not room to dream.)
:D

Fantastic, nice work! Do we get to look at the source code? :)

Hi Staylo !

I am glad that you asked that because it allows me to explain why I have not published the full source.

First of all, all the major work (the 'clever stuff') was done VitalyB and Grand.

They provided the solid foundation and the tools for others to build on.

It is a tribute to their work that 'C' beginners (like myself) can manage to do something useful.

Studying CHDK code is an excellent way of learning 'C'.

Fingalo, EWAVR, Rossig and MX3 added new features or  provided technical information that allowed certain problems to be solved.

If you check the website, you can see that SDM is just one of a range of similarly-named programmes devoted to stereo imaging.

You can have as many versions of CHDK as you like crammed with as many features as you like ... choose your favourite.

BUT, there cannot be multiple versions of SDM, it would be chaotic   :)

Incidentally, someone started a Yahoo SDM Group  :-

There are other purposes the source could be put to use for, eg triggering of slave flashes over serial. Please reconsider!

Thanks,

Simon

99.9% of the code is concerned with providing displays and grids that aid stereo shooting.
They are of no interest for general photography and are not wanted by ordinary photographers.

To fire slave flashes, I simply use a device called 'Firefly' that ignores the preflash.

Hi, is there a StereoDataMaker  version for the 720is? (GMI.00c) if so, where can I find it?

Hi David,
Try these batches for experimenting with compilation order etc.
Safer than editing makefiles  ;)

edit: allcams.cmd won't work without docam.cmd
