My thoughts are much the same as reyalp's, it is mainly a matter of organizing the material already there (as also mattkime said earlier) Good websites have a "Home" page which directs to other section "Home" pages, which then direct to sections and subsections, in order to avoid clutter on any one page. Wiki's do not quite have the flexibility, and advertisements sometimes get in the way, these are part of the challenge. I am still working on a new CHDK User Guide for the Wiki by the way...suggestions?...questions?

Cheers.  :)

The beginnings of the new CHDK User Manual are now at - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual, basically the contents of the 2009 CHDK Quick Start User Guide.

- Elimination of 1 Gig video-size limit
Is this actually true ? Where/how/which cameras ?

Almost all digic2 cameras. In movie_rec.c (a610 1.00e):

                "CMP     R1, #0x40000000\n"       <- 1GByte
       //       "BLS     loc_FFD2E14C\n"      // -
                 "B       loc_FFD2E14C\n"      // +
Size limit is increased to 2GB.

Great, learn something every day :)

Regarding the users manual, what do people think about keeping all in one page, vs. breaking it up into multiple pages ?

My feeling is that it should be broken up. It's already 80+kb, excluding the images, and has none of the script stuff yet. I would suggest something along the lines of
main page
- includes introduction, disclaimer, table of contents, links to other references/old manauls
sub pages would be
- using CHDK
- one for each top level menu
- scripting stuff: This probably needs to be broken up into reference and tutorial/guide as mentioned earlier.

Are there size constraints to a page?, If there are, then separation of articles would be needed, I guess, otherwise with the
table of contents properly organized, would it be necessary? Although, if they are separated it makes it easier to reference
them from elsewhere in the Wiki - others thoughts?

just leaving a note to say that i've started a new home page on another page. i've done this so i can collect feedback for putting it live.

The goal is to more succinctly explain what chdk is and how people can get involved.

I'm considering creating a hierarchy for the wiki content in order to help organize it. For instance, instead of having camera pages spread throughout the wiki namespace from 1000D to TX1, they'd be under Camera/1000D and Camera/TX1. I believe all the wiki content can be in 5-7 sections.

Now try to talk me out of it!

You can add {{delete}} to a page to make it a candidate for deletion. Or in the case of spam, replace the content with it. The wiki admins should get around to it eventually.

I think cameras are central enough to what CHDK is that having them in the top level is reasonable. Plus there's lots of links (from inside the forum for example) to individual camera pages. You'd have to have redirects anyway.

If you want a list of camera pages, use http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Cameras
