@fvdk, thanks for making a compact/alternative version of the settings.

    @whatevertsunami:

Can you download this version and continue your tests ?  :-

I used the same settings as after "Reply #2 on: 14 / December / 2009, 16:21:48", that is:

    First delay seconds                    5
    First delay minutes                    0
    Shoot interval seconds               0
    Shoot interval minutes               5
    Number of repeats                     1
    Endless mode N/Y                      0
    Single/Cont/Time/Burst              1
    Tv exposures                             7
    Focus exposures                        15
    Bracket Tv/foc/Both                   2
    Light/Dark/Alternate                  2
Num of 1/3 EV steps                  6
    Equal/auto/digi 0/2                    0
    Focus-step                              50
    digiscope focus ref                  500
    Blank screen N/Y                      0
    Shutdown N/auto/USB               0
    Save stack N/Y                         1
    Sunrise mode                           0
    TXT/CSV                                  0

The same thing that I reported then happened now: "took 4 different exposures, now 15 pictures with the first 3 and 18 with the 4th. It still won't take more than 4 exposures."

When I set endless mode "on" it rested for a couple of minutes and started over.

I then changed equal/auto/digi to 1, that is automatic mode. It took the required amount of pictures with different focuses, again with only 4 different exposures, then it stopped.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but if you want to use slower shutter speeds than EV+2 in the camera you have to press the disp. button to access long shutter mode. I tried to start the script with shutter speed set to 1" in manual mode. It took only 2 different exposures, one with 1" and the other with 4".

P.S. if you want the info from the files let me know!

Do you have another camera that does not behave that way you can test it on ?

I have an ixus v3 but I think that's too old. Also I think it behaved the same way and I don't have it here either. My gf just bought the SX200 which has full manual controls but I don't have it here at the moment, I could get it but I'm not sure which day.

Do you think that "behavior" has something to do with the problems? I thought most ixuses behave that way..?

P.S. shouldn't the shutter speed override take care of that too?

    I would think so.

Anyway, I will check with my cameras.

    Sounds great!

I now tried to set (in the SDM menu) the focus override to RF (as close as possible it seems) and shutter speed override to 1/80 and used the same settings (with auto mode) for combined bracketing to see how it behaves with faster shutter speeds. It took 6 different EV's. Up to 0.8s (as it was meant to) and down to 1/1250s, that is one step less than it was supposed to. If this should be of any help..

There seems to be problems with the script to matter how I use it. I tried to make a hdr time lapse with these settings:

    First delay minutes                    0
    First delay seconds                    5
    Shoot interval minutes               0
    Shoot interval seconds               20
    Number of repeats                     0
    Endless mode N/Y                      1
    Single/Cont/Time/Burst              1
    Tv exposures                             3
    Focus exposures                        0
    Bracket Tv/foc/Both                   0
    Light/Dark/Alternate                  2
Num of 1/3 EV steps                  6
    Equal/auto/digi 0/2                    0
    Focus-step                              50
    digiscope focus ref                  500
    Blank screen N/Y                      0
    Shutdown N/auto/USB               0
    Save stack N/Y                         0
    Sunrise mode                           0
    TXT/CSV                                  0

In the beginning it took the pictures ok, but there were extra pictures with the neutral exposure every now and then. As it got darker outside the extra shots got more and more frequent and in the end one stack of images has gone from 3 to 5, the 2 extra are: 1 extra with regular exposure and one with a completely new exposure that is +4EV. Now I have to remove them manually. Have you found anything that might cause this?

Hey David I'll let you off the hook, it works perfectly with timer mode. Too bad I couldn't figure this out earlier. Thanks again for all the help!!

That is not the point  :)

It is all part of the 'tweaking' process.
Frans has also mentioned a few issues.
    Please continue testing.

I will work on this tomorrow.

Haha, that I left you off the hook doesn't mean that your ambition to make SDM work perfectly should do the same ;)

Sure, I'll do what I can to help, just let me know. There will be ~ a week around xmas I won't have access to the internet.
