 How do I toggle the RAW saving on and off: the manual says <ALT> + "+/-" - Toggle Saving Raw.
 I can find the ALT button but where is the +/- on my A550?

Try the DISP key while you're in <Alt> mode to toggle the RAW setting, this should be the shortcut on most cameras without +/- key...
