Hello. I just wanted to know what min/max voltage values will provide the best battery percentage for my G11. I tried searching the thread to see if it had been posted earlier but found nothing. Sorry of i'm asking again.

Thanks.

Hello. I just wanted to know what min/max voltage values will provide the best battery percentage for my G11. I tried searching the thread to see if it had been posted earlier but found nothing. Sorry of i'm asking again.

I use max = 8.00V and min = 6.750V ...

my "measured" max value is roughly 8.2V, but with a smaller value, the percentage doesn't got immediately below 100% ... the battery discharges in the beginning very fast, I think... maybe I will set my max value to 7.750V ...

my "shutoff" min Value is 6.6V -- but the time between the drain from 6.75V to 6.6V isn't large at all, therefore I have a very litte backup time.

After all... you have to find the values of your own battery. Especially, if you use non-Canon batteries.

One question... I don't know, if this behaviour is correct or not.

If I start my G11 without CHDK via "On-Button", the lens extends and the camera is in "picture taking mode".

If I start my G11 with CHDK via "On-Button", the lens is inside and I have to press Half-Release to get my camera into "picture taking mode".

Is this wished? Is it possible to go directly into "picture taking" with CHDK?

@KaLi

That's normal behaviour ... keep "ON"  pressed until CHDK logo appears (a second or so)

and you can boot straight into shoot mode.

HTH,

wim

PS note that this can easily be changed in the CHDK source code, but for most (?) users this setting
is the most secure (protection against accidental lens extension while in pocket/bag)

Some kind of bug-report / feature request.

When I swivel the display facing toward the front of the camera, the CHDK display messages are not upside down but mirrored. It would be nice, if the display is painted correct -- and automatically switched, of course. ;-)

You can set "Reverse Disp." to OFF in the Canon menu...

I guess (I have my cam not by the hand), this would result in an upside down view on the display... therefore the chdk messages would also be upside down, but (as positive effect) not mirrored anymore ;-) .

So... I have to learn to read mirrored messages or upside-down messages (in connection with upside-down display readouts).

By the way... it's easy to read mirrored text.... but reading mirrored numbers is very confusing ;-)
