ERR99,

Question for you and I am not sure where I should post it on this forum, so I am just going to post it here.
On the G11 it only offers Fine and Normal compression for JPG files.  Chdk offers a SuperFine option.

Is this just a setting in a PropCase or is the Chdk code actually using a different JPG encoding function that what is in the G11 firmware?

If it IS just a PropCase or variable, would it be possible to edit the dumped firmware (hack it) to make the Normal setting set the SuperFine option instead of "Normal"?

The reason I am asking, is I don't always need the full chdk functionality, but I WOULD like to always have SuperFine JPG files.  Also, I NEVER use NORMAL compression, so would it be possible to hack the original firmware and then have that loaded either into the flash memory or at least boot up the hacked firmware on startup.

Thanks and if this is not the correct place to ask this question, please let me know.  I am new to this forum.

...but the chdk menu seems to disappear a LOT on my camera.  I know it was an issue but it makes it REAL hard to use as I have to keep rotating the dial back and forth to keep the menu up sometimes.
Switch to playback mode or open the Canon menu when using the CHDK menu; the CHDK menu should be much more "stable" then...

So, what say the testers? Is the 1.00L port working well enough to integrate/add the port to the SVN so it can be part of the autobuild?
Or are there any serious problems left?  ::)

Ive been using it since you uploaded the bootdisk.bin, so far no problems at all, everything ive tried seems to be working fine, havent had any crashes. boots up everytime, shuts down without any problems, so far its been spot on :D

Fine, thanks for the feedback. I posted now the sources for 1.00L in the "[REQ]Adding new cameras, applying patches into trunk (with source code prepared)" thread, so hopefully it is soon part of the autobuild.

...work in process...  ;)

Edit:  Done, changeset #882
Binaries should be available from the Autobuild Server in ~20 minutes.

Hi everyone, I'm a new comer. I'm using G11 with 1.00L version (used vers.req to check it). I had read a lot information on this site before asking a new question. Now, here is my problem..

I have a 8GB SD Card and I want to use CHDK for my G11. But I don't know how to split two partitions FAT16(or FAT12) and FAT32 for it.

I tried guide on this site (Windows method - Case #4):
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Bootable_SD_card

But it failed because G11 doesn't support the manual loading method through the firmware update.

I searched on Google. There is a guide use WM5Storage to make Windows recognize SD Card as Disk Storage Device and can create new partition. But this method need a Windows Mobile 5 device. I don't have anything like that.

So, is there any method create partition for 8GB SD card on Windows for using CHDK on G11?

Please help me :D

Best Regards.

This is probably going to sound stupid but has anyone tried loading the g11 beta on a g10?  Because as far as I can see they are identical cameras except for the screen and megapixel resolution.  Am I missing something as to why the g10 has been so challenging as opposed to the g11?

Sorry if this post is ignorant but I would very much like to know as I own the g10 ;)

Thanks,

Mindstrm

Sorry, it wont work that way.  CHDK stops working most of the time if only the FW is updated on the same camera! CHDK needs to known EXACTLY the adresses for functions and variables of the original firmware. If this adresses are changed or shifted (even only by one byte, e.g. because a text string was changed somewhere ), camera crashes. So getting the G11 port working (simply by booting the G11 port) on G10 is impossible. G10 will crash.

I dont think that the G10 is more challenging then the G11 (or any other allready ported camera). You simply need someone who has a G10 AND the time, skills and motivation to do the port. If you dont find someone with this profile... you got no chdk port.

Hi fe50,

Thanks for your supporting :D. But I found that software doesn't work for my card.

Luckily, I tried Paragon Partition Manager and it worked. I have a FAT 16 partition now (just use 1.9GB and other GB is useless :D ). After that, I used CardTrick to make it bootable and copy full CHDK into it. Hope this method is useful for anybody have same problem with me.

CHDK run on my G11 but sometimes it makes memory card error after reset camera.

I will continue try it and report if there is any problem.

Best Regards
