which raw format is the best? (most bit per chanel) the CHDK-DNG or G11 own CR2 format ~15mb vs ~10mb. well it must be some lack of bits per chanel in the CR2 files due to size.
CHDK raw (including DNG) use the raw 12 bpp data directly from the sensor.

I would expect the canon raw to use the exact same data, but it could be losslessly compressed in some way. Although the raw buffer on most newer canon P&S are 12 bit, there's generally only ~10 bits of actual precision in the data.

override controls

Question:
How do i control the subject distance override using the wheel or zoom ring?

I used to do that on my Ixus 80. On the G11 i have to go to the override menu and change the value, then preview on half shutter press, then go back the override menu and adjust once more.. etc.

thanks alot.

Can't you just use camera MF ? Having a shortcut for this is generally a workaround for cameras without native MF.

On the IXUS / SD series you can use SD override for emulating the MF, read about the keys here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_firmware_usage/AllBest#New.2FSpecial_Short-cut_Keys

I guess you are right, but seeing the large SD range that CHDK offered made me think it was better than the MF.

AFAIK it does not extend the limits, those are hardware.

Hello & welcome, omarjunior !

The G11 CHDK DOES NOT support the manual loading method through the firmware update mechanism !
Using a multi partitioned card (prepared with the SDM Installer) should work...

For the "Windows issue" read more here:

Hi to everybody, first of all excuse me if I make some error, but english is not my native language.

I have a question or maybe a request about chdk on G11

I noticed that in "low light mode" the burst speed is extremely faster than in the other modes. It would be very nice to have the possibility to shoot high speed burst, even @ 2,5 Megapixels. The problem at the stock setting is that (it's normal since it's a low-light mode) it boost the iso at a very high setting, ruining the already relatively low definition (2,5 MP) images with a lot of noise, also disabling raw mode.

Could it be possible to control iso, or force it to the lowest possible setting, maybe enable raw output and have some sort of control of the exposition instead of full auto?

In my opinion, one of the major lacks of this camera is the slow burst speed, having the possibility to shot at a decent burst rate, even if at a lower resolution, could be usefull in some circumstances

Thank you

Angelo
