will it be possible some day?

I'm sure it will

it would also allow to decrease detection time
- minimal interval now is 100 milliseconds and 30 for modified version

I think it is possible but seems too complicated to me - requires allot of disassembling etc.

I'm sure it will

The only problem we need to overcome is the shutter is closed if display is off.

when that will be overcome it would be nice if the screen could be switched off in video too, I'd find it useful.

sounds great.. 30ms, display off, battery for hours.... no problem to catch lightning or animals with this setting

btw: You get my personal GOLD award for the motion detection. I'm almost sure that in two years the big ones like Sony and Canon will implent your feature into their newest cams (NOW WITH MOOOOOTIOOON DETECTIONN!!!)  ;D

... and it will cost to their customers extra $50 for such model. ;D

which means the first thing they'll do is to update the firmware in the next cams so that CHDK won't work  :-\

They already did this once: VxWorks is replaced by DryOS. But, I think, the reason is not the CHDK, but the licensing of VxWorks costs to Canon money (whereas DryOS is their own product).
