SX10IS Bracketing & RAW Problem

Hi you all!

I'm new here at the forum, but I have some experience with Canon cameras and CHDK. (I have read all the manuals and tutorials at CHDK website). I tested it on mi A720IS without problems. Now I bought a SX10IS: Everything seems to work fine except when I try to do bracketing with raw files. The strange thing is that sometimes it works (I can get all the 3 files) but other times the camera just shutdown, and it's like that until I take the batteries out.

I have tried to do the bracketing with raw enabled and the AEB bracketing which comes with the original Canon firmware, and also I have tried with CHDK only, raw enabled and bracketing in continuous mode enabled (Av or Tv).

If it is useful: I have a 4GB SDHC which I had to format in FAT16 for booting automatically with it.

I hope you can help me with this.
Thanks,

Carlos

Check if "add raw-suffix" is set in the bracketing menu, and if it is, try turning it off.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Nope, it is deactivated.

Maybe other parameter which could be making some kind of trouble?

Thanks again,

are you sure camera shuts down/hanges? sometimes it can take a very long time to take overexposed shots in hdr sequence, and camera looks like if it hanged, but it's just taking this very long exposure.

in what lighting conditions did you experience this behaviour? did first shot got done, or did camera hanged immediately after pressing shutter?

Yes, I'm sure the camera turns off. It doesn't respond to any button until you take out the batteries.

Normally it turns off after the second shot, when the blue led is on. But it has also turned of after taking the third shot, when the blue led is on.

Also the second shot (or the third) is not saved as jpg nor raw.

I have tested this in good and low light conditions. (my home, my office, nature, beach, etc)

By the way, I have the 1.03a firmware version.

Thanks!
Carlos

UPDATE:

Today I tested more the bracketing and it is still failing with RAW. So I tried with some scripts and I noticed it is not about AEB Brackting for HDR only: When the camera tries to continuosly shot in RAW, this happens, the camera shuts down.

Thanks!

maybe the problem is in slow saving time of raws.
also, i've noticed camera shutdowns when script was running and batteries were low.

I think you are right.
I used the Ultra Intervalometer to capture like 1 picture every 3 secs in RAW and it works fine.

Now I will try to find other script to do the same but changing the step compensation, for HDR.
Any ideas?

thanks!
