Hi Everyone,

I am planning to purchase Canon A1000 IS Digital Camera within a 10 Days time. In the near future is it CHDK going to be released for Canon A1000 IS. If so, i will definitely go for Canon A1000 IS. By default, Canon A1000 IS do not have manual exposure setting, is this manual exposure setting will be available if CHDK is release for Canon A1000 IS.

Please update me soon on this because i will go for Canon A1000 IS if it will be available otherwise i will get a Canon A590 IS.

Welcome to the forum !

The A1000 is being ported, but i don't think you will find anybody willing to guess when
it will be finished ... (that goes for any port, btw, not just A1000)

Your best bet would be to read the porting thread and draw your own conclusions

here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/A1000IS is the Wiki page, porting thread is linked at
the bottom of this page (under 'Porting')

That's why i linked you to the porting thread - I don't own/know specifics about your cam,
you will need to ask people that can give you an informed opinion about that.
All I can say is that normally all features in standard CHDK will be available in every ported
cam, but of course that is limited by what the hardware can do.

Hello all,

I have this camera and it has been a few months since the last post in this thread, so I was wondering, is/will there be a port available for this model?

Thanks, J.M.

There is no schedule. diablo, who started the port doesn't have time to work on it any more. Someone else may or may not pick it up.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hi
I noticed there is CHDK beta for Canon A2000 which I think is very similar to A1000. Any chance a port for my model will be available too?

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering if it won't be possible to use the same firmware as the only differences I found between the cameras are optics and display resolution.

From http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ#Q._What_camera_models_are_supported_by_the_CHDK_program.3F :

Quote
Please note that every camera model, and almost every firmware revision requires its own unique port.
There is zero chance a port for one model will work on another.

PS I guess that's why they call them FAQ ...
