The value of the camera is far less then the value of the programmer time required to do the port, and (no offense intended to anyone in this thread) the difference between offering a reward in a forum post and following through is large. That said, if a camera shows up in my mailbox, a port will follow eventually. I expect is true for most of the other developers.

Hi reyalp,

I stand by my words. Although I offered the camera after seeing the port, given your standing in the community I can provide it up front as well. I'm ready to paypal you $275 (current market value of the camera), if you are ready to handle the rest:

1. Purchase the camera.

2. Make sure the port does appear this year.

3. Choose the prize winner and pass the camera to him/her.

Drop me a personal message if you want to go ahead with this.

Sorry, I don't have the camera. I was planning to get one once there is a port available.

If you paypal me the money to purchase this camera, I will order it as soon as I receive the money, and make a port as time permits. I can't give much of a time frame, but definitely within the year. I would expect to have something functional much sooner. The CHDK port will include the normal CHDK features that are applicable to the camera.

If for some reason this doesn't happen within the year, I promise to return the money.

There is no guarantee for any of this except my word. If that isn't acceptable to you, that's absolutely fine with me, and no offense will be taken.

my paypal email [snip]

A bit of unsolicited advice: You mentioned that you don't have the camera. If you don't have good reason to believe the camera will suit your needs, and a good idea of how the existing CHDK features will improve this, sending me money probably isn't a good investment. CHDK gives you a lot of extra control, but it doesn't change the fundamental characteristics of the camera. CHDK itself is rather complicated and has many quirks/bugs that are inherent in the way it is made (and many others we just haven't got around to fixing). If you haven't already used CHDK on other cameras, you may find that it doesn't match your expectations.

It would be unfortunate if when the port was completed, you found that the camera or CHDK didn't do what you want. This is your decision. I won't take any responsibility for it, nor feel any obligation to return your money if it turns out to be unsatisfactory.

Hi,

Thanks for the detailed answer. There is just one thing I would ask you to do before I paypal the money. Please post a version of your acceptance to the forum thread, as I want to keep the whole thing public.

Everything else I understand and agree with.

If anyone feels this falls foul of rule #4, or otherwise something that shouldn't be done here, I'm willing to listen.

For the others who have offered to pitch in for a "D10 prize", you can work that out with ES if you still want to contribute. Waiting until after the port is finished would minimize the chance of complications.

The port will be available to everyone, not just those who contributed to buying the camera. So I believe the Prize is a benefit to the public.

I just did my part by sending the $275.

Camera arrived today.
@ES: Could you please test my above udumper diskboot.bin on your D10 (to get a complete 8MB firmware dump) ?

Works and gets a dump, but the romstarter at 0xFFFF0000 is missing. Everything from FFF90000 on is zeros.

If you have the code and diskboot encoding you used for this handy, please post. Otherwise, I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Camera firmware is GM1.00a like the earlier dumps, so maybe we won't have a lot of versions of this one.

edit:
diskboot should be dancingbits 2
