Hi,
I want to make timelapse with slow zoom.
It is possible with a A590IS?

Those timelapses are normally achieved by post processing (croping) each image in the computer rather than the camera.

Here is one example of a Lightroom script to prepare the pictures before merging them into a video: http://regex.info/blog/2008-05-20/820

I guess there are other programs/scripts out there in case you don't use Lightroom.

The s2 and s5 have 128 zoom positions whereas most of the Powershot and Ixus range only have 8 or 15. Since you can only zoom in steps it's not possible to make a long smooth optical zoom in a script on such cameras.

Perhaps I should look for a S5 camera :-)

How smooth will a 128 step zoom be on an timelapse movie?
