I've seen some noise #define(s) in the core.h include:

#define NOISE_REDUCTION_OFF             (1)
#define NOISE_REDUCTION_ON              (2)

It would be something new and nice to have for DNGs in chdk.

or is it better to do this in the PC?

Those are for dark frame subtraction.

edit:
DNG is raw data. The kind of noise reduction filtering that the camera does for jpegs would not be applicable.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
