Although it's called SDMInst, the app available from http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/clickpansdm/sdminst.html will also install CHDK. It's a Java app for OSX (which now supports Panther and Tiger as well as leopard and Snow leopard) that will:
 - partition a card into two partitions if requested (4GB cards or larger)
 - format the card if requested
 - make the card bootable if requested
 - copy DISKBOOT.BIN and other files to the card if available
Note that it requires Java runtime 1.4 or later (should comes pre-installed with OSX).

The idea is to simplify life for Mac users by offering a utility that's as easy to use as CardTricks (though it doesn't have all the functionality at present).

SDMInst now supports making FAT32 cards bootable. Of course, this option should only be used if your camera is one released since January 2011 (i.e. it's DryOS R47 or later). See the list at the bottom of this page - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/P-ID_%28Table%29

Yes, in the next day or so.

I should mention that Licks fails with some Linux variants (Debian) - the underlying fdisk commands required are subtly different from Ubuntu.

LICKS has now been updated to offer making FAT32 bootable cards. See http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/licks/licks.html
