A different version of CHDK is needed for different firmware versions of that camera.
Modern digital cameras contain tiny computers. The firmware tells the computer how to drive the various functions of the camera. CHDK uses the firmware that comes with your camera, so CHDK for the SX200 firmware version 1.00c should not be installed on an SX200 running firmware version 1.00d.
could be confusing, the SX200 100c and 100d actually use the same code. The difference between the firmware versions does not affect CHDK code.
The autobuild just copies 100c code into another zip file and calls it 100d.
CHDK version will show 100c when loaded.
As this is for "Dummies" maybe using a different camera as an example would be better.
