Hello everybody,
I am using Alpha 100c (CHDK-ixus130_sd1400-100c-2010-12-23).
Almost all of the CHDK features I tried are working nearly perfect. However, I stumbled across a very weird behaviour when using the following script "setzoom.bas" to set the zoom.
---------------------------
@title Set-Zoom
@param a StartZoom (4)
@default a 4
set_zoom a
exit_alt
end
---------------------------
This script sets the zoom to EFL 62mm. It seems to work with manual activation as well as with autostart. With autostart, I sometimes experienced a short interrupt with a black display, and in any case the script occasionally crashes and I have to restart the camera.
When using the script with autostart or when manually activating the script from a lower zoom step (EFL 50mm or lower), the recorded JPEG-pictures (not RAW!) show an extreme pincushion distortion. This is no mechanical problem with the lens as the displayed preview is not distorted.
The problem does not show when starting the script from a higher zoom step (EFL 72 mm or higher) or when zooming manually (from lower or higher zoom steps). Changing the preset EFL to 50mm (step 3) or 72mm (step 5) did not remove the distortion.
My explanation would be that the script in some cases (when zooming up?) seems to override or inactivate the inbuild image processing which compensates for the distinct distortion of the small lens.
Apart from this weird phenomenon, I am very happy with the CHDK on my Ixus 130 and I would like to thank everybody who contributed to CHDK!
