Hello, everyone.

Hopefully this is the correct place to post this question. I'm having trouble with my camera not turning on with the SD card with CHDK on it in the camera.

I downloaded the archive of the CHDK-ixus130_sd1400-100a-2010-12-23 firmware and used the SDMinst java application to create the partitions on the card. I also used "Blue Harvest" to clean the card of all Mac OS X related invisible files.

But, as I mentioned, my camera won't' even power on with the card inserted. I think I've gone as far as I can trouble shooting (which admittedly isn't far), but I've read as much as I can but haven't seen a solution to this particular problem.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the forum !

Some ideas:

1. Have you locked (write-protected) the card ? This is necessary, or the DISKBOOT.BIN will not
    be loaded

2. Are you sure your camera's firmware version matches that of the CHDK archive (are both 100 A?)

hope that helps,

wim

Thanks!

I did lock the card. I did my best to follow all the directions.  :D

I'm not sure what my camera's firmware is. How do I find that? It doesn't seem to be available from any of the menus.

Regards,
Michael

Thanks, waterwingz. ACID reports that the firmware on my camera is 100c, which means that the CHDK archive I downloaded is not correct. Right?

Michael

I went back and downloaded the correct CHDK archive for my firmware and now the camera powers on. I've got some new stuff on the screen but it appears to still be booting the original firmware. Odd.

Michael

Loading CHDK does not change your camera's firmware in any way.  It loads in RAM and dissappears every time you turn your camera off.

If anyone is still tracking this thread,  I've converted the source to use the latest dev trunk and submitted for eventual inclusion in the svn & autobuild.

Test versions are here :

link > ixus130 sd1400 firmware 1.00a   deleted - LCD image unusable

link > ixus130 sd1400 firmware 1.00c  deleted - LCD image unusable

If you download one of these, please provide some feedback here in the forum !!
I don't own the camera and have not been able to test the changes.  Even just a one line posting here saying "It works on my camera"  would be very helpful. If we get postive reports - the camera can be added to the official autobuild server so that you can get regular updates of the latest features !
