I am new to chdk. Just unpacked my sx210is.

First trick I learned was what 'start in playback mode' really means:
      - Switch on the camera, the lense comes out.
      - Hit the Play button, then wait until the lense goes in.
(depending on the menu setting this can take 60 seconds)
      - only then, Func -> Disp shows me the firmware screens:

    GM1.00C (1.0.0.0); Build: Feb 5 2010  13:36:08; Adj Ver.008.005

Only then, I can run Firmware update, see the greeter screen with

      Firmware 'CHDK 0.9.9-1004';  Build: Dec 17 2010 18:57:20; Camera: sx210is - 100c

    Permanent Memory/Battery indicators appear. Nice!

In <ALT>, Remote Parameters, I check Enable Remote

When aplying power to the USB, I get a di-di-dit, and the framing indicators on the monitor, like if
half trigger was pressed. But no photo is taken.

I'd like to help get the remote function working.
Any further tests, I should perform?

    Thanks, JW

No (unless this cam is different from all other Canon P&S with CHDK) Try this instead

With the scriptless remote enabled this is the default behaviour --> http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual#Remote_Parameters :
    Quote
Note on scriptless usage > To auto-focus and set exposure metering, a short press of the USB remote trigger will execute a shutter half-press, then a second press will do a full shutter-press. In other words... if USB remote is enabled, pressing / releasing the remote button is equivalent to pressing / releasing the shutter halfway, to complete the shot, momentarily release and press the remote button again within 0.5s, which will "press" the shutter all the way. This might require a bit of practice to reliably shoot each time.
You may also use the remote feature in your own scripts, read more here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/USB_Remote_Cable

Thanks whim for the play startup! I need to read the camera's manual some day :-)

Thanks fe50 for the instructions. Works like a charm!
This saves me all the mechanics for attaching a servo arm to the trigger :-)

I update the sources & binaries for the latest trunk 1004,
Dont know if fix anything or not yet

Sadly, it doesn't seem to make a difference in the shoot() script feature.  I'm using Keoeeit's Ultra Intervalometer.  It just sits there after the first shot blinking the light up by the dial as it did in past versions.

I've dl'ed latest "trunk 1004" and was disappointed with OSD. It disappears all the time! More frequently than ever before!! ((
Zebra mode seems not hangs camera, BTW. I've changed resolutions and wasn't able to hang it.

Only sometimes the alt menu disapears as reported before, but not everytime, awesome!!

Thanks for the port, and if I can help in anything, just ask ;D
