Hi,

I'm just wondering if someone has tested the new Sandisk Extreme class 10 30MB/s ?  I'm not sure if the class 10 will be compatible with my old S5...

Should I be safe and purchase a Extreme III class 6 30MB/s ?

What's the speed limitation on the internal camera buffer? ...there is no point to buy something flashy if the camera can't write fast enough! :blink:

I'm trying to improve my bracketing RAW shooting performance.

The higher speed shouldn't hurt anything. No idea whether it will benefit.

I've bought this card, I've updated the benchmarks page.

For my S5: SanDisk Extreme Class 10 30Mb/s 4GB (FAT16)
RAW write21487
Mem write8777
Write 64k6475
Read 64k9002

The numbers are a bit low in comparison of the other Extreme/Ultra III...  :(

I've used Linux to format my card:
 - fdisk by creating a primary FAT16 partition
 - mkdosfs -v -F 16 /dev/sdc1
 - echo -n BOOTDISK | dd bs=1 count=8 seek=64 of=/dev/sdc1

Anything I could do/improve the performance?

I've created a FAT12 (1M) partition and fill the rest with a FAT32:

49 heads, 48 sectors/track, 3292 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 2352 * 512 = 1204224 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sdc1   *           1           2        2328    1  FAT12
/dev/sdc2               3        3292     3869040    b  W95 FAT32
I've formatted both partitions like this:

mkdosfs -v -F 12 -f 1 /dev/sdc1
mkdosfs -v -F 32 -s 64 -f 1 /dev/sdc2

Here are the numbers:
RAW write21487
Mem write8714
Write 64k10051
Read 64k9153

The SD Formatter http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ uses 32K as cluster size so I've used the same value for the FAT32 partition.

The "Write 64K" has increased but I don't know if it's going to make any difference.

Maybe you could follow a more practical approach. To check if you improved the bracketing RAW shooting performance, keep the shutter pressed for say 60sec and count the number of pictures.
