720IS CHDK STATUS?

720IS CHDK STATUS?

I have been trying without success to find out the status of CHDK being ported to the 720IS. Is there somewhere that I should regularly visit to find out how these amazing programmers are progressing? I was looking at another site that deals with RAW and it listed the 720 as being able to produce RAW with " the CHDK HACK". Further on. it indicated that this information related to only DIGIC II cameras. Isn't the 720is a DIGIC III camera. Is not DRYOS the DIGIC III operating system? Please forgive my possibly stupid questions as I am recently retired person trying to keep up with technology's rapid progress.  ???

Thank you for your reply. I checked and the firmware I have is 1.00c as listed. However I cannot get the download links to function. Is there a trick to accessing the downloads?

Barney,

In the last two days I have 1) Checked that I had rev. 1.00c,
 2) Downloaded and installed CHDK for 720 IS,
3) Worked my way through the menus.
4) Found and installed scripts and grids.
5) Shot RAW.
6) Converted RAW to DNG and edited same in PS.
7) Compared the output of the latter to native jpeg at ISO 200 and 1600. 

 Now I am trying to refine how DNG4PS-2 works with my A720 IS by getting my head around colour profiles.

From 1) to 6) I have been immensely helped by the very patient members of this forum. My reference to "trying to keep up with rapidly changing technology" was the result of my absolute awe of people like Vitaly, Grand, Allbest and yourself.
