Looking for a CHDK developer for a custom application using CHDK as a foundation

You can of course autorun the motion-detection script and automatically exit ALT mode when it is finished.
With the current CHDK you would only need the option to enter the script parameters.
With SDM the script parameters can simply be in a text file so you would not need to enter ALT mode.
You would just edit the value in the text file.
As far as I know, this will also work with CHDK.
The SDM property-files allow you to include four lines of description.
As a matter of interest, do you want to detect motion or no-motion  ?

Thank you David for the suggestions.

I still need a more fool proof method of ruinng the script.
I'm trying to detect motion, not the lack of motion.

Americans sometimes use the words (in book titles) 'idiots'  and 'dummies' to describe users who may be less than expert.

Although I cringe at those words, I understand the sentiment.

However, there are limits to just how little knowledge can be assumed.

If someone cannot edit a value in a text file or in the Script menu in ALT mode, then you are out-of-luck.

I do not see any alternatives.

What are you suggesting, how is the user expected to change the script parameters ?

David

David,

Keep in mind, my application is not for photographers. It will be used in the medical profession by technicians setting up the hardware and software.
I'm trying to keep it failsafe. I do not wish to have a technician fail the performed test due to improper setup. Simplicity is the key to maintaining this foolproof methodology.

I will keep one menu to adjust the necessary parameters within the script.

Gregg

If any other programmers are interested in development of my custom application, please contact me by email at gsbergman@verizon.net and I will email a copy of the specific requirements to you for your review.

Regards,
Gregg

But you previously said  :-

I dont want the end user to have to fiddle with the ALT mode, menu's or anything

I know, but the user will need control of the motion detection sensitivity, so I see no way around that.

But regardless, I'm trying to keep it simple, or as simple as possible.
I'm not a programmer, therefore I'm seeking the advice of the experienced programmers in this community to help me reach my goals.

If I need a menu, then so be it. I just don't want the end user of my application to get lost in many menus.

Do you have a particular motion-detection script in mind ?

What firmware version is your G11 ?

Fast Motion detection (MDFB) is what I'm using for testing with a different camera (Canon S5IS)
It works very well.

The G11 camera was ordered last week, I have not received it yet. I'm hoping there is no new firmware version. (fingers are crossed)

(Canon S5IS)

What firmware version is that ?
