Is it possible to run CHDK on card with no write-protect switch? I have this SD memory card.. Installed chdk on it, however it wont boot of course, because card is not write-protected... And i cant make it write-protected either... Any thoughts?

Maybe you can add the switch, or something that looks like it, yourself to the card. This should be possible because the write-protect switch does not affect the card itself, but is mechanically sensed by the card reader. In other words: you should make something that the card reader in your camera feels is equal to the write-protection switch.

No, I think you have to physically move a small lever inside the card reader. Of course this lever makes a short circuit somewhere inside again, but I don't think you can easily reach this. On most SD-cards the switch is from plastic, so it can not short out anything by itself.

i was thinking maybe switch shorts out two of the plates on the card, then i probably could short plates out from outside of the card. oh ehm... i just noticed its MMC card lol. also there seems to be no way to open card without damaging it..

all you need to do is file a notch. like the eye-fi users usually do: http://forums.eye.fi/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=117

i see, thanks for info. doing this kind of thing to card would just make more problems... looks like living with manual loading of chdk is better idea.
