Never heared about a IXUS 951 - if this is really an "official" Canon name, i guess it's a 950 with a special color, as like the IXUS 80 / 82.

--> use the ver.req method to get the camera's P-ID (read here), then compare to http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/IXUS_950#Firmware_Version
